Hillary Clinton’s Continued Sharp-Edged Communication About Trump Loyalists

Hillary Rodham Clinton

Hillary Clinton remains a heavyweight when it comes to the punches she throws at supporters of Donald Trump. Regardless of the criticism that comes back at her, she remains steadfast in her communication barbs, despite potential political consequences for the Democratic party.

The ongoing question is does her communication help or hurt her purpose?

The latest she’s said about Trump and those who remain devoted to him: “He’s only in it for himself. He’s now defending himself in civil actions and criminal actions. And when do they break with him? Because at some point maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members. But something needs to happen,” she said.

Analysis, facts and opinion.

Again, she said, “there needs to be a formal deprogramming” and “of the cult members.”

Clinton continues communicating with a sense of purpose and urgency when she adds, So it is like a cult and somebody has to break it, break that momentum.

She keeps punching, throwing in an insult for some “extra” wounding: “Maybe they don’t like migrants. Maybe they don’t like gay people or Black people or the woman who got the promotion at work they didn’t get. Whatever reason.”

History can pile her recent comments on top of the ever-so-famous, “basket of deplorables” she once verbalized in 2016 about half of Trump voters.

There is good news, she believes. “I believe Joe Biden will defeat them and hopefully then that will be the end and the fever will break,” Clinton forecasts.

Notice too: “The fever.”

One of Clinton’s defenders is Jessica Tarlov, co-host of FoxNews The Five. About Clinton’s comments, Tarlov brushed them off, calling them “tame.”

No, it’s not a threat to democracy,” Tarlov said. “Does it land in a bunch of GOP ads heading into an election? Sure,” Tarlov claimed. “But I really need everyone to spare me the faux outrage and the pearl-clutching about this little collection of things that Donald Trump and high-ranking Republicans call liberals on a daily basis: anarchists, anti-American, deranged communists, corrupt, compromised groomers, and perverts, thugs and traitors.

Setting aside the politics, if that is possible, it is reasonable to think about and ask are Clinton’s words helpful or dangerous to the collective good and maybe more so, her hopes and that of many, for Trump to not again hold public office or be a threat to compete?

Will her words further galvanize conservative voters to a higher degree than the current socio-political climate or will the knife-like communication not matter?

Clinton remains a loud political voice and polarizing personality. She certainly has access to the media who will give her a forum, a legion of fans as well as a large group of public and maybe, political enemies.

She cares about her historical legacy and is not once to be silenced by fears of speaking out against what she deems as politically and socially corrupt.

It was late poet Dylan Thomas who wrote:

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Maybe that’s what Clinton is doing, at least partly, in her commitment to socio-political engagement: not going gently into twilight of her political influence when she has the energy, passion and apparent fearlessness for what she sees is a danger to the future needs and wellness of society and the country.
